This is the high tech age. The fields of travel and communication have had tremendous advancements in this era. Today one can get to the other side of the world in less than a day. The world’s airports are buzzing with activity with several aircraft taking off and landing every minute. People are traveling back and forth as if taking a walk in the neighborhood. Communication by means of the telephone, videophones, cellular, and finally the internet makes anyone reachable anywhere in the world. The world is a village.

Scientific advancements have taken place in all fields. The medical sciences have touched the peak of advancement with open-heart surgery, organ transplantation, cloning, sex change operations and so forth. Today you have machines that do innumerable things like washing, freezing, mowing, vacuum cleaning, shaving, grating, and so on. As stated in the book of Daniel 12: 4 –“knowledge has increased in these last times” times”. The advent of the internet has greatly improved the chances of gaining knowledge in any field without stepping out of your home. In the cozy comfort of your home, you find yourself browsing through the world’s universities and libraries.

All this increase in technology has only added to the misery of the spirit of man. Physical comfort is not peace in the mind. Thousands who enjoy all these fruits of technology are contemplating suicide and many have already done so. These are spiritually sick people and the present day plight of man affirms the fact that although science has improved the living conditions it does not cater to nor address the Spiritual health of man.

This is where the word of God comes in. Many people think that the Bible is not relevant in the high tech age. I feel sorry for such people and urge them to read on. The Bible is more high technology than any of the high tech devices are. It was written by the unction of the Holy Spirit by about 40 different authors over a span of 1600 years. Yet it does not contain any genuine contradictions. God chose a family of peoples (Jews) to record and guard his message to the world.

Although emperors and kings have tried to destroy the word of God through the centuries, it has withstood every onslaught and reached us in the 21-st century.

Many statements made in the Bible thousands of years ago are only now being verified using the latest technology. Isaiah 46: 10 reads – “…“…Declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times the things that are not yet done.” The Bible was never meant to be a science book yet it contains many scientific revelations. A few of them have been outlined below to show that the Bible is high tech and that it is relevant in the high tech age.

1. Trade winds.
Ecclesiastes 1:6
“The wind blows to the south and turns to the nor north; th; round and round it goes ever returning to its course.” This was written around 935 BC by Solomon at a time when there were no scientific revelations regarding this. It was only 2000 years later that it was understood that trade winds blow around the earth as is written.

2. Paths of the seas.
Psalm 8:8
“……..and the fish of the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas.”
It was in 1845 that Mathew Fontaine Maury, inspired by this verse, began discovering and mapping the existence of ocean current in the depths.

3. Polar ice caps.
Job 38:29-30
“From whose womb comes the ice? Who gives birth to the frost from the heavens when the waters become hard as stone, when the surface of the deep is frozen?”

This refers to polar ice caps that are found only in the farthest reaches of the north. How could anyone like Job living in the area of Saudi Arabia in those times know? It was only in 1300 AD that a Greek explorer traveled even as far as Great Britain.

4. Water Cycle.
Job 36:27 – 2; Amos 5:8
“…………that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his name:”

This was written about 3500 years before it was known to man that the water in the oceans evaporate due to the solar heat and then form clouds which when cooled fall down as rain on the face of the earth. It was in 1676 that Pierre Perrault and Edme Mariotte first explained this hydrological cycle.

5. A finite Universe with a beginning.
Genesis 1:1
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth”
The Bible tells us that Almighty God created Time, space and matter simultaneously. For many years scientists thought the universe was infinite and had no beginning but in 1992, a probe called the Cosmic Background Explorer (COBE) proved that the universe is finite and had a definite beginning point.

6. Earth hanging in space.
Job 26:7
“He spreads out the northern skies over empty space; he suspends the earth over nothing.”

This word of God came at a time when the cultures of that time either believed that the earth rested on turtles or on the backs of elephants!!

7. Spherical shape of the Earth.
Job 26:10; Isaiah 40:22
“ It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth,… ………… ……………………”
The original word used is ‘khug’ which could either mean a circle or a sphere. It was only in 240 BC when Eratosthenes determined that the earth was round.

8. Man from the dust of the ground.

Gen 2:7
“The Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.”

Scientists laughed at this simple statement for many years not able to imagine how a complex being could be composed of the elements of the earth. In 1982 researchers at NASA’s Ames Research Centre confirmed the biblical account by proving that every single element found in the human body exists within ordinary soil! The word of God is always true.

9. Atomic structure.
Heb 11:3
“Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear appear.”

Apostle Paul knew atomic structure 2000 years before it was discovered by scientists. Indeed all visible matter is made of atoms that are so minute that they are invisible to the eye.

10. Medical Science.
Leviticus 17:11
“The life a creature is in the blood….”
God gave medical knowledge to the Israelites centuries ahead, which man understood only in the 18th century. One third of all the biblical commandments found in the Law of Moses were detailed medical regulations.

Leviticus 6:28 “But the earthen vessel wherein it is sodden shall be broken: and if it be sodden in a brazen pot, it shall be both scoured, and rinsed in water.”

It was only in the 20th century that it was known that Germs cause diseases yet the God of Israel tells them to break earthen pots since germs could remain in the cracks. At the same time metallic vessels are to be cleaned properly. How Scientific!

It must be remembered that this was a time when the Egyptians used the dung of a donkey mixed with the blood of worms to treat wounds. How unscientific!!

Science changes but the Bible does not.

Most if not all scientific truths of one time have been proved to be wrong at a later time. There are many theories that have been pushed down the drain to make way for better ones. Let us examine the atom models.

Soon after the discovery of the electron by J J Thompson he set out to create an atom model called the Plum Pudding model according to which the positive charge in the atom is uniformly spread out in the atom while the electrons are symmetrically arranged.

He drew the atom models of all the elements known at that time. People agreed with him and claimed this model as being true but not for long. Earnest Rutherford and his associates during the course of the famous alpha scattering experiment by thin gold foils found that some of them undergo large angle scattering. In order to explain this Rutherford created the nuclear atom model according to which the entire positive charge is confined to a very small region at the centre of the atom called the nucleus and the electrons just revolve around the nucleus. This was the accepted truth of that time! But not for long.

In order to explain the observed line spectra of elements Niels Bohr accepted the nuclear atom model but had to postulate that electrons revolved only in particular assigned circular orbits. Sommerfield opposed this idea of circular orbits and argued that the orbits are elliptical. The world accepted this as the truth!!

This ridiculous process of observation and theory had then to reach a stage where many scientists put their heads together to formulate the rather complicated ‘Vector Atom Model ‘which hung on for some time.

The matter wave theory of the French scientist Louis De Broglie along with the Quantum theory then produced what is known as the ‘Wave Mechanical atom model’.This is the true atom model of the day! But surely we have not reached the end of the line. It is bound to be modified.

What about the theories of light? Where is Newtons corpusclar theory? It has been proved wrong. What of Huygens wave theory of light? It has not been found adequate to explain certain phenomenon like photoelectric effect and therefore the dual nature of light has had to be created.

What about the theories of evolution? Where is the theory of spontaneous generation today? It has been proved wrong. What about Lamarks theory of use and disuse organs according to which the neck of a giraffe grew this long because it was reaching higher and stretched to get at tall trees!!! The latest theory of evolution calls my great-grandfather a monkey !!I will not take it . I will hold on to the Bible where it says that Almighty God created my greatgrandfather from the dust of the ground. This is real high technology.

Evolution is man’s negation of God’s creation..

The intention of pointing out all these things out of many such is not to establish that everything in science is wrong. No. It is just to point out that science is bound to change—the truth for today may be a lie tomorrow..

This is not the case with the word of God. It is as true in the twentieth century as it was in the first century.. .. . God’s word does not change and will not pass away.. .. .

Men change, women change, fashions change, notions change, traditions change, ideas change, movies change everything changes but not God. He is the same yesterday yesterday,, ,, , today and forever forever. . Yes, Jesus is the same Hallelujah!

Conclusion

You may do what ever you may using the high tech tools of the day. They will give your physical body comfort and keep it cool. They will save you time. They will do the work for you. They will entertain your flesh. You may sit for 24 hours in front of your TV or play video games. These things will not give you real peace. Do you really know peace?

Science has given us so much and answered so many questions but does not and cannot answer the most important question.

Why are you here? What is the meaning and purpose of life? Even great persons of this world struggle for the answer if they refuse God’s word.

Leo Tolstoy said “ what is life for? To die? To kill myself at once? No, I am afraid. To wait for death till it comes? I fear that even more. Then I must live. But what for?” Philosophers cannot answer this question.

Scientists cannot answer this question but God’s word says that we are created for a personal relationship with God. This relationship is possible only through accepting the atonement for our sins by the blood of Jesus Christ. He is the way the life and the truth.

Jesus is alive. He still changes lives. He changed my life a few years back. Millions have been touched by his love over the centuries.

Dear reader, if you still do not know Jesus in a personal manner, this is the time. Get down on your knees and call him into your life. Being religious is not enough. Forsake your life of sin and turn to Him. You will never be the same again. You will have the peace that passeth all understanding. He needs you to obey his commands.

If you have already accepted Him as your Saviour aviour then lead a Holy life. If you manage to do that (with his abundant grace) then your destiny shall be realized. To o be with Jesus Our Lord through eternity..
