Undignified for Christ

Pune ICPF chapter organized a one day retreat on 1st April at Pimpri -a new work station around 25 km North West of Pune city. The theme of the retreat-Undignified for Christ-was in tune with the day itself i.e. April Fools Day.

It was attended by around 50 students who got invigorated by the action-theme-song “...I will sing, I will dance...I will become even more undignified than this”. The morning session enroched by spirit-led worship by student leaders they also  taught new action songs which  where loved by one and all. All the students were actively involved in the group discussions.

The ICPF speakers spoke from the life of Moses emph-asizing the need of being a fool for the Lord by obeying Him in to to, as Jesus being the greatest prototype who has left behind a legacy to follow. The sacrificial stories of missionaries like Jim Elliot, Adoniram Judson and Joseph Damien who gave up worldly pleasures and became fools in the eyes of the world were the wisest people on planet earth in the eyes of the Lord.

The afternoon session was set apart for giving personal experiences and games followed by a challenging message which encouraged the students to go as ambassadors of christ in colleges and campuses.

The students were burdened by the enormous need of laborers to reach out to thousands of students and hundreds of colleges in the city of Pune. At the close of the session 37 students committed their lives to serve the Lord in different measures by becoming undignified for Christ. They  servants of God prayed and blessed them. This one day retreat served as a launching pad for Gods work among the college students in Pimpri through ICPF.

DOHA CAMP ENDS

The Indian community in Doha had the great opportunity to be part of the ICPF summer camp which was held in the Indo Arab Recreation Centre from 30th March to 1st April 2006. The theme for the camp was ‘The chosen generation. Many of them who came from traditional Christian backgrounds experienced  the presence of the Lord.

campOverall, 170 children registered for the camp.  Prof.Oommen George and Bro.Jify Yohannan were the resource persons.

The Praise and Worship session led by Bro. Jify Yohanan was the favourite among the children filled with action songs for the smaller kids and songs of devotion. The Holy Spirit moved among the youngsters. Prof. Oommen George spoke on Self Esteem, Sin & Grace, Science & Bible, Influence of media, Teens issues & Mission challenge in different sessions of the camp. Children took decisions to grow in their spiritual walk and to be more committed to the decisions they took.

On the first day, after the session on Sin & Grace and issues of youth, nearly 12 children came forward in tears and committed their life for full time ministry. At the altar call, half of the crowd stood up to renew their decision to be a witness for the Lord and the Pastors and seniors prayed over them. Few children decided for water baptism.

All teens were actively involved in the group discussion and the leaders expressed their views on the said topic.

The responses of the children for counselling were great and 18 children turned up. Three unbelievers brought even their parents for counselling.

All the children in one voice declared that they enjoyed the camp and that this year’s camp was undoubtedly the best.

This year’s camp made a real difference in the life of many teens. Some of them experienced the need for having Jesus in their life while some realized they need to re-dedicate their lives and some experienced inner healing from the wounds they carried. All in all, they experienced the love of God and a real touch from High above.
