Strategies of Satan on this planet could be thwarted effectively and God’s purposes and plan be fulfilled when believers commence using their God given authority and pray for nations of this world.

Timothy in his epistle Says’ “First, I tell you to pray for all people. Talk to God about all people. Ask Him for the things people need, and be thankful to Him. You should pray for kings and for all people who have authority (power). Pray for those leaders so that we can have quiet and peaceful lives - lives full of worship and respect for God”. (I Timothy 2:1,2)

This is how we have to intercede for our nation. This is good and pleases God our Saviour. To intercede means to act between two parties with the aim to reconcile the two of them. Thus when we intercede, we stand in the gap in prayer for and on behalf of another.

Our God do really desire and wait for His people to supplicate for those who go astray.

In Ezekel 22:30,31 it is written, “ I looked for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so that I would not pour out my wrath on them and Consume them with my fiery anger, bringing down on their own heads all they have done, declares the Sovereign Lord.”

From what our God says, it is explicit that we have to implore God for His mercy and ask humbly and earnestly so that God will not pour out His wrath and consume with His fiery anger.

We all desire quiet and peaceful lives which is very much wanting now. The word of God says that we can have quite and peaceful lives only it we intercede and stand in the gap in prayers for the kings and all those in authority and for the city where we live in.

In Jeremiah 29:7 it is stated that “Also, do good things for the city I sent you to. Pray to the Lord for the city you are living in. why? Because if there is peace in that city, then you will have peace also”.

The imperative need for prayer for our city where in we live and our moral and spiritual responsibility should not be belittled any way, so much so, let us pray for the peace for our city and in turn enjoy self peace.

Again God says that He will bless the leaders of the nation and the nation itself if we will only humble ourselves and pray.

2 Chronicles 7:13,14. “When I close the sky so there is no rain, or I command the locusts to destroy the land, or I send sickness to my people, and if my people who are called by my name become humble and pray, and look for me, and turn away from their evil ways, then I will hear them from heaven. And I will forgive their sin and I will heal their land.” Believers are to be very much concerned about those who are still unsaved.

God wants all people to be saved. And He wants all people to know the truth.

The reason why God wants people to lead quiet and peaceful lives is that, gospel has to be carried to the ends of the earth and people get saved at large by be believing and prophesying that “Jesus is the Lord.”

In Mathew 24:14 it is said, “The Good News about God’s kingdom will be preached in the whole world. It will be told to every nation, Then the end will come.”

But Satan wants to torpedo this. He blinds the minds of the unsaved so that the light of the Good News do not reach and transform them.

2 Cor. 4:4 “The ruler of this world (the devil) has blinded the minds of people who don’t believe. They cannot see the light (truth) of the Good News - the Good News about the glory of Christ. Christ is the One who is exactly like God”

The blinded minds of people would be opened only if believers get on their knees and intercede.

When we look to the nature we find that if there is no rain there will be no crop.

Similarly the spiritual rain of the Holy Spirit is to be poured out upon all nations. We are to pray for unhindered flow of gospel and rain of Holy Spirit so that we may reap the harvest, the precious fruits of the earth.

Just as a farmer waits his very valuable crop to grow from the earth, we also should wait patiently and hope, for our Lord Jesus is coming soon.

Jesus said that there are many, many people to harvest (save). But there are only a few workers to help harvest them. Mathew 9:38. “God owns the harvest (People). Pray to Him that He will send more workers to help gather His harvest”.
