“He was led like a sheep to the slaughter.”

Have you ever-paid attention to the action of a lamb or sheep? Most of us haven’t come in contact to the way of lambs or sheep. The fact is that lamb and sheep has the will to die. Can you realize the mystery of that? They are the only animals alive who have the will to die.

Jesus is often portrayed as a Lamb, on His way to Calvary. The silence of the Lamb was louder and more deafening than any loud crash. The earth could not stand the silence. The thunder sounded, the veil of the Temple ripped in two, and there was an earthquake. Out of this silence, Jesus Christ had won the victory!

Often, now a days Christians find that worshipping God could only be done through loud music of praise and worship, or shouting and screaming. What has happened to the old idea of finding God in the small still voice? People now just feel that they are very busy. We often tend to forget to look on God in silence. A person’s relationship with God can often be found in solitude. I am not saying that worshipping God with the sounds of instruments and loud singing is wrong. We must not forget that God is also waiting to find us alone, to talk to us and to commune with us as we tell him our secrets; for it is only God Himself who could understand.

A ram was offered in the stead of Isaac on a mount in Moriah. I have often seen portrayals of Jesus being compared to Isaac. The characteristics of both Isaac and Jesus are almost the same. For example, both were the only sons of their father. Isaac had the will to obey his father to sacrifice himself, as was Jesus. Although there are various similarities between Isaac and Jesus, we can also see the similarities of the ram caught in the thicket and Jesus. This ram was there by chance. It was offered for the fulfillment of Abraham’s test of faith. Jesus was offered for the sake of the fulfillment of God’s will. All three, Jesus, Isaac, and the ram were willing to offer their lives for the sake of others. Today, we as Christians, take it for granted all that God has given us.

Amongst all the hustle and bustle of our everyday and busy routine, we tend to forget God easily. Take time in your few moments of silence to thank the Lamb of God who was willing to lay up His life for you. This time of solitude should not be one of going through the bustle. God doesn’t want our prayer and thankfulness we offer in our spare time. God did give His only Son to die for us. How much more thankful should we be. We should be willing to give up everything we have to God Remember that God is patiently waiting to hear from us. Instead of worshipping Him ONLY in noise and sound, worship Him in silence.

How many times have we put aside our time of devotion for the sake of other things that we deem as important. Yet, how important are those things? Can one person do everything without the help of God? Then why is it that we always forget about Him? Prioritizing is an important aspect of our daily life. Where does our spiritual life come in our list of priorities? Jesus Christ gave up His place and comforts in heaven to have another important part of him taken away: His life. He did not question the will of His Father, but silently obeyed.

Lamb show characteristics that are as we see in Jesus. The meekness and willingness to die are some characters that are found in Jesus. If we pause to ponder on how Jesus has suffered to save our life, we will realize that the few, meager hours that we spent in a week, sitting in prayer, is not enough to show our gratitude. God is willing to receive our praises, no matter how long or short it is. We must remember that God is yearning to spend time with us. In silence, the Lamb of God waits. Why don’t you take a few minutes today to thank Him, for His life that we now enjoy?
